How far will you go to look good?
Ladies and Gentlemen. The truth has now come out and I'm hopefully not the first person to tell you this but here goes...
We can't all look like Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt. (naturally, that is...unless you're blessed with some really nifty genes)
Even though we can create our own accounts on Date.ca (Free Registration) and post a picture that is totally doctored, we all know what we look like when we wake up.
Now, forget about "Manorexia" for a second...now we're talking about TEENS and SURGERY to lose weight and look better. I think what we have to start teaching our children is that surgery isn't the FIX to their problems, rather, it is a combination of many things. One definite thing that teens must change is their THOUGHT process above and beyond anything.
What can the rest of us do? Well, I think changing how the media portrays 'health' and 'youth' would be one thing. In fact, if you haven't heard the news, 'skinny models' are now banned from the catwalk in Spain. The Madrid show is using the Body Mass Index (BMI) to measure models and qualify them for the runway. I hope this marks the start of a new trend in fashion.
What is the fate of our youth coming to?
